Public safety professionals require secure and reliable communications to aid them in their lifesaving missions. Law enforcement, fire service, and EMS all need broadband services to access data-intensive applications, search digital databases, share videos and files, and provide timely information.
To address the broadband requirements for first responders, the U.S. government created FirstNet, the first high-speed broadband communications platform purposefully built with dedicated coverage for first responders and the extended public safety community. AT&T, in addition to Verizon, have announced their dedicated and interoperable networks for public safety, separate from commercial network services.
There is a clear demand for rugged, easy-to-use devices including 4G/4.5G LTE and future 5G support for the first response network. In response to this demand, Lanner vehicle computers V3S and V6S are now equipped with extension slots for PGN (Pigeon) module — a swappable caddy to enable 4G/4.5G LTE communication. The module comes with dual SIM slots enabling resilient and uninterrupted LTE network connectivity. The swappable LTE PGN caddy design make field service and replacement easier. Additionally, the antenna design of PGN (Pigeon) module ensure optimal signal receive and transmission.
The vehicle onboard computers with FirstNet-ready PGN card enable real-time, uninterruptable and mission-critical network communication, as well as provide advance features and services that enables law enforcement, fire service, and EMS ambulances to save lives and protect their communities.
