Safeguarding Industrial IoT Networks with IT/OT Security

The risk of cyber threats in the Industrial IoT networks has escalated in a historical pace as IIoT applications, like smart factory, intelligent transportation and smart grid are connected by mainstream network protocols. The malicious attacks have evolved to be even more destructive than ever, namely Stuxnet worms, DDoS attacks, ransomware, Trojan and other breaching methods and these can penetrate into IIoT networks from multiple paths on both the IT (Information Technologies) and OT (Operating Technologies) network infrastructure.

The instrumentation bus, controller LAN and supervisory HMI and SCADA systems

Industrial DMZ Zone (Layer 3.5)

The data exchange network layer includes mail server, application servers

Enterprise Zone (Layer 4~5)

The enterprise network layer contains web server, email server, FTP server and enterprise servers
