Lanner To Launch New Network Appliances Upgraded to Intel Xeon® E5-2600 v4 Processors (Codenamed Broadwell-EP) Aiming at High-End Network Computing

Network AppliancesTo meet the growing demands of next-generation datacenter, enterprise, virtualized workstations, SDN, NFV and public cloud, Lanner will adopt Intel’s latest server-based 14nm micro-architecture Xeon® E5-2600 v4 family processors with C612 PCH, codenamed Broadwell-EP. The recent adoption will apply on Lanner’s network appliances FW-8896, FW-8894 and NCA-5510, which are currently driven by Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v3 family processors (codenamed Haswell-EP). The upgrades from Haswell-EP to Broadwell-EP will bring several technological enhancements including core numbers, ultra memories and cache, turbo-up performance and wide compatibility.

Lanner’s FW-8896, FW-8894, and NCA-5510 are currently driven by the already-powerful Intel® Haswell-EP processors. The upgrade by using the latest server-based Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v4 family + C612 (codenamed Grantley-EP), branded as Broadwell-EP under Intel’s tick-tock roadmap, will enable these network appliances with up to 22 cores. Once the Hyper-threading technology is enabled, there will be maximum 44 logical cores for extreme performance in datacenter, enterprise networking, SDN/NFV and cloud computing. In addition, the turbo-up frequency of Broadwell-EP can reach up to 2.6GHz.

Memory wise, the adoption of Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v4 family will provide full support of DDR4 up to 2400MHz. The high-speed memory will boost data processing performance by a great margin than DDR3, especially in enterprise networking environments. In addition, with the adoption of Intel® Broadwell-EP will deliver ultra L3 cache memories, ranging from 45MB to 55MB depending on core numbers.
