Lanner Collaborates with NTT and IIGA to Demonstrate the SD-WAN Solutions at Interop Tokyo 2017

SD-WAN optimization adds app-layer intelligence and service chaining in WAN connections between branch offices and headquarters/data centers and enables a service agility and scalability for on-demand network functions. It requires full-featured hardware and software collaboration to accelerating the SD-WAN time-to-market deployment for service providers. At Interop Tokyo 2017, Lanner will work together with NTT and IIGA to showcase the open networking SD-WAN solution featuring the Lanner’s branch office vCPE gateway FW-7551, enterprise cloud platform HTCA-6200 and the DPDK-enabled SDN/NFV middleware Lagopus and IIGA’s Flow Visualizer.

Lanner vCPE network appliances

The inter-site SD-WAN demonstration includes Lanner vCPE hardware solution, including FW-7551 for branch offices and HTCA-6200 for central office and enterprise cloud. FW-7551 is a compact x86 based desktop appliance, empowered by Intel Atom C2000 Series SoC (Codenamed Rangeley) with up to 8-core computing capability, 6 GbE ports with 2 pairs LAN bypass support and 16GB 1333/1600 DDR3 memory and built-in Intel QuickAssist crypto acceleration as well as full DPDK compatibility. To ensure high throughput and the high levels of reliability mandated by central office and enterprise cloud, Lanner also demonstrate HTCA-6200 network platform features Intel Xeon CPU blades, swappable network I/O blades, high-speed switching capability and full redundant design. HTCA-6000 series support up to 2 CPU blades, each of them designed with dual Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2690 v3/v4 CPUs with a total of 48 cores, the swappable network I/O blade with 1/10/40/100 GbE network ports in an array of QSFP, SFP+ or copper combinations. With built-in BCM switch fabric, inter-communications between each CPU blade can achieve a bandwidth beyond 480 Gbps.

IIGA’s Lagopus vSwitch and FlowVisualizer

For software solution, the Lagopus vSwitch fully covers OpenFlow 1.3 specifications and programmable APIs in order to improve serviceability, agility and stability. With state of the art DPDK technologies, Lagopus vSwitch is able to deliver high performance packet forwarding and processing for SDN/NFV applications on Intel x86 CPUs and intel NICs. The IIGA’s FlowVisualizer enables the visualization of Flow Entry and Slice design, and is possible system collaboration with OpenDaylight.

With the integrated solution from hardware and software, Lanner’s vCPE hardware platform and innovated Lagopus vSwitch softwareand IIGA’s FlowVisualizer will optimize the potential to realize SDN/NFV-enabled network environment and shorten the system integrator development time for next generation SD-WAN applications.
