Lanner today announced the release of the N2S-IVMT201, a NIC module powered by Intel® Ethernet 700 Series XXV710-DA2T.
The N2S-IVMT201 is introduced to answer the call for high-precision timing synchronization across the network, resulting from the exponential growth in 5G and Edge deployments.
Intel®’s Ethernet 700 Series XXV710-DA2T comes with hardware-enhanced IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) for high clock-phase accuracy synchronization across networks.
Most of 5G and Edge deployments depend on 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) in order to ensure the required phase accuracy across the network; and the N2S-IVMT201 meets these requirements, delivering greater flexibility and compatibility than today’s single-purpose PTP hardware solutions by way of its dual 25GbE QSFP ports.
According to Intel, “XXV710-DA2T increases IEEE 1588 PTP phase accuracy through a combination of hardware enhancements and software optimizations,” providing the following benefits:
- Onboard high-precision oscillator with up to 2,5001 times tighter accuracy
- Dual SubMiniature version A (SMA) coaxial connectors
- Software-defined pins (SDPs)
- Standard Linux support
The N2S-IVMT201‘s features can be summarized as below:
- Intel® Ethernet 700 Series XXV710-DA2T
- Hardware-enhanced IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol
- Lanner N2S Standard
- 2x 25GbE QSFP
- 2x Gen4 PCIe x8 Golden Finger With 1x PCIe x16 Signal
