The NCA-1516: Sprinting the 5G/WiFi 6 Last Mile

Lanner’s NCA-1516, a desktop network appliance powered by Intel Atom® C3000, is capable of both mmWave 5G, Sub-6GHz 5G and its Wi-Fi 6 is both 2.4G and 5G compatible. The NCA-1516 was timely introduced for addressing new communications demands ushered in by the transition to last-mile telecommunications. As the last mile, not only types of connectivity linking from edge devices to core networks have increased dramatically, the mix of services and technologies involved has also grown exponentially.

As Wi-Fi 6 and 5G are built upon and share similar technical foundations and attributes, an integrated architecture across different wireless access can be realized using the NCA-1516, delivering a combination of dual access technologies that satisfies almost all enterprises and service providers’ network policies, security measures and resource allocations between different access networks.

End users, on the other hand, are able to enjoy greater interconnectivity, instantaneous communications and other use cases within different verticals over either a 5G, Wi-Fi 6 or even multiple networks simultaneously for better performance and user experience.

In terms of specifications, the NCA-1516‘s hardware performance is supercharged with Intel® QuickAssist Technology and Intel® AES-NI. It is ideally equipped with network communication features and configurations for vCPE/uCPE and Edge security.

What’s more, the NCA-1516 offers a mPCIe expansion slot that supports Intel® Movidius™ Myriad™ X Vision Processing Unit (VPU) for creating a reliable hardware platform for developers to deploy a robust Edge AI solution for intelligent surveillance, traffic management, access control, retail and beyond.
